Make a moonshine still using stuff from your kitchen
You can make a moonshine still using common kitchen equipments. All you need is a large cooking pot, a round-bottomed mixing bowl, a drinking glass (preferably 8 oz), a magnet, a small weight, a cooking thermometer, red table wine and ice cubes.
First step
Place a large pot on the stove. Then, put in two quarts of red table wine. Position the collection glass at the pot’s center. Place inside the collection glass the magnet as this will hold up the glass in a sturdy position the instance the ingredients begin to heat up.
Second step
Power the stove on. Make sure the temperature is on high. Allow the contents to reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
Once the mixture reaches this temperature, power the stove off to low temperature. It is necessary that you manage the temperature from this time on since it is a must that the temperature slowly rise.
Third step
Fill the bowl with ice cubes and place it atop the large pot. Ensure that the bowl properly seals the pot. You can add a brick onto the bowl in order to seal alcohol vapor.
Fourth step
Bring up the temperature slowly for at least thirty minutes. As the wine slowly heats up, chemical compounds will begin to boil at various temperatures.
Usually, methyl alcohol is the first to evaporate at 148.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
Then, ethyl alcohol is the next to vaporize at 173 degrees Fahrenheit. Meanwhile, water boils at approximately 212 degrees Fahrenheit.
Once alcohol is at its boiling point, it will convert to vapor. The instance it reaches the ice-cube-filled bowl, it will condense and cool down. Once it condensates, it will drip slowly down the collection glass.
It is best that the collection glass be stable and the cold bowl at the top is tightly sealed.
Fifth step
Ensure that the wine slowly increases in temperature. The wine should not boil. Once the temperature reaches 212 degrees Fahrenheit, power the heat off and remove the collection glass. Throw away wine that is present in the collection glass.
Feel free to taste the resulting distillate for quality. If you are tasting nothing but water, throw away the residue. Then, make a new batch of ingredients.
Once the beverage cools down, place charcoal between coffee filter papers arranged in a funnel or large strainer. Then, purify the liquor.
Notes: When using a large cooking pot, it is preferable if the pot is able to hold a gallon of liquid.
Also, try to avoid using a bowl with a flat bottom as this will not produce good results since your objective is to allow the distillate to drip inside the collecting jar.
The point of including a magnet is to keep the collection glass from moving in the pot.
The purpose of the small weight is to keep the bowl in place. Feel free to use either a brick or a five pound weight. Essentially, the object should be heavy enough to avoid vapors from leaking out.
